When it comes to weight loss, most people understand the two most important factors: diet & exercise. That sounds easy, right? The hard part is making both of these necessary components work together to create our desired result. Eating a special diet can have it’s challenges on its own, and adding the planned exercise routine can make the goal of losing weight seem so far off as to be impossible.
Now I’m going to give you some good news: it’s not far off. There are several tips that can help anyone who is serious about losing weight.
So often a diet & exercise plan is crafted apart from one another, therefore the outcome is less effective. The concept is simple really; a poorly planned diet and exercise regimen will result in less than substantial weight loss results. It’s not hard to figure out what will happen in this scenario. Poor results lead to frustration, and frustration leads to giving up! If you’ve tried a special eating & exercise plan in the past, you may have experienced this very disappointing cycle.
In order for you to be successful and meet your weight loss goals, you must design your meal choices together with your exercise regimen. This will allow your body to use the correct nutrients, to the maximum extent, to make your exercise efforts as effective as possible. Let’s start with the obvious: cut out unhealthy snacks and we all know what those snacks are for the most part. This doesn’t mean you can’t snack, but healthier snack choices will help your diet & exercise plan become more effective.
I’ll give you an example of the number of minutes you would have to exercise in order to off set the consumption of a given unhealthy snack choice: if you eat a serving size of one ounce of Pringles, your caloric intake would be 150 calories, 14 grams of carbohydrates, and 10 grams of fat. This means that you would have to either: walk for 43 minutes, or run for 18. While these tasty potato chips are a craved snack, they are not the right choice if you’re striving to lose weight.
Now, once you know the food value breakdowns of the foods you eat, you can start to cut out all of those food choices that do nothing for your body. Again, it’s important to realize that a diet & exercise plan must be accomplished together to be effective. There are other food & beverage choices as well to pay attention to such as; a mocha. Try drinking hot tea instead for your small indulgence. Remember when you add the small indulgence to all the other caloric intake for the day, it equals weight gain. The last thing you want to do is destroy your hard work simply because you are not aware of the negative effect of some food choices.
So there you have it, a successful diet and exercise plan is not beyond your reach. If you are serious about losing weight, educate yourself on the nutritional value of the foods you eat. Next, choose a diet plan that is right for you. There are countless resources available for those willing to seriously attempt weight loss.
For those of you who feel you’re too busy to take on the added task of educating yourself, shopping for, and then preparing healthy meals, consider some options.
